The Friends of the Horniman is an independent charity that builds awareness of the Horniman’s work and helps support important projects and acquisitions through fundraising, volunteering and other practical support.

Established in 1988, the Friends have raised over £250,000 towards the Horniman’s collections, galleries and Gardens and are some of the Horniman’s most important ambassadors – working closely with staff on a number of events as well as offering a social programme involving get-togethers and visits to other places of interest.

The Friends are focused on the education of members of the public by promotion, support, assistance and improvement of the Horniman. The group has worked to further the charitable purpose of the Horniman through activities like the Friends of the Horniman Art Exhibition, and encourage development of the facilities which we offer.
