Horniman Museum and Gardens receives funding as part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio

The Horniman Museum and Gardens has been confirmed as a part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio and been allocated £3,786,712 over four years from 2018-2022.

Janet Vitmayer, Director of the Horniman Museum and Gardens, says:

We were delighted to hear today about this crucial support from Arts Council England. It is great news for the ever-growing number of people who like to spend time at the Horniman - last year we had a record breaking number of visits at over 914,000. This funding will help us build on our success in attracting people of all ages, backgrounds and interests, and support ever more fun, creative and inspiring ways to share our world-class collections and Gardens.

Joyce Wilson, London Area Director, Arts Council England, says:

The Horniman will be moving from one of two Major Partner Museums in the current 2015-2018 Portfolio to being one of 72 museums integrated fully into the Portfolio for the first time as National Portfolio Organisations. With its vibrant, diverse programme, welcoming activities and probably the most-loved walrus in the country, the Horniman has become a destination attraction for south London. We look forward to more of its excellent work over the next four years.
