£3 per participating child, adults free.

About this event

Have fun with art skills and exciting techniques to create something fabulous to take home, inspired by the Horniman’s collections or seasonal celebrations.

Different themes each week include:

Saturday 7 January - Birds In Nests: Learn about RSPB Garden Bird Watch and make your own little bird in a cosy nest.
Saturday 14 January - Birds In Nests.
Saturday 21 January - Chinese New Year Rooster Lanterns: It’s Chinese Year of the Rooster! Come and celebrate by making and decorating a beautiful lantern.
Saturday 28 January - Chinese New Year Rooster Lanterns.

Saturday 4 February - Birds in Nests: learn how to model your own little feathery friend and then make a cosy nest for them to sleep in.

Saturday 18 February - Crazy Carnival Masks: celebrate Mardi Gras in New Orleans and Carnival in Rio by making and decorating your own fabulous mask!

Saturday 4 March - Nature Nests: make a textured tree trunk and then create little minibeasts that live there.
Saturday 18 March - Cherry Blossom Trees: celebrate the national Cherry Blossom Parade in Japan by making your own beautiful blossom tree.

Saturday 22 April - Carp Streamers: join us to learn about Children’s Day in Japan and make your own Carp Streamer decoration to take home.
Saturday 29 April - Tiny Tigers: make a little tiger friend, cute or scary, it's up to you! Then take them to meet the tiger in our Natural History Gallery.

Saturday 13 May - Dragon Boats: learn about the amazing Dragon Boat Festival in China, then make your own fantastic dragon boat model.
