All week we will be learning about each other, looking at what we have in common and sharing each other’s resources.
The Roseville Utility Exploration Center is an environmental learning centre operated by the City of Roseville’s municipal utilities. The utilities supply electric, water, wastewater, recycled water, stormwater and solid waste services to people living in Roseville, California.
Water is really important to us too.
The Horniman declared a climate and ecological emergency earlier this year, and reducing waste and recycling water is a big part of that. Did you know that we recycle the wastewater from our Aquariums into the Gardens for watering the plants?
Like the Horniman, Roseville Utility Exploration Center is very popular with families, and a large part of their work is encouraging visitors to save water, protect it from pollution, and learn about the impact rubbish and pollution have on the planet.
Another way that we are similar is our hands-on approach. Regular visitors to the Horniman will be familiar with our Hands on Base and the objects you can touch or try around the Museum.
Roseville Utility Exploration Center has an enormous pile of rubbish – a huge floor to ceiling sculpture – showing items that are destined for landfill. You can even climb through it.
How can you get involved with our Museum Buddy?
Roseville Utility Exploration Center has shared with us this Make Your Own Mini Compost challenge. Why don’t you give it a try?
Don’t forget to share your finished mini-composters with us.
