Become a nature explorer and discover how to find and identify wildlife living in and around our city, while meeting some animals who live right here in the Museum.
Please note: The Nature Base is closed is now closed until the redisplay is finished in 2026, as part of our Nature+ Love Project.
Visit the Nature Base and see hundreds of live honey bees in their special hive. You can also meet Britain’s smallest rodent, the harvest mouse.
Look up close at the wings of insects and listen to the calls that animals make at night.
There are lots of things to see, hear and do in Nature Base.
Remember: be gentle and respectful when handling Museum objects as well as when you are exploring wildlife outside.
