Award winning volunteers

Tonight, some of our volunteers and staff were commended for their commitment, dedication and hard work at the 2012 London Volunteers in Museums Awards.

In a ceremony at the Museum of London, Aaron Paterson and Chris Adams were awarded the winners prize in the category of Bringing Innovation.

Aaron and Chris came to us with an idea about making a short film about the Museum and Gardens.

We were very excited when we saw their final results - take a look below. The video captures all that is great about the Horniman, showing the museum and gardens off wonderfully, our objects look beautiful and fascinating and our staff speak with passion and enthusiasm.

More Horniman volunteers were also commended:

  • Pat Alliston who volunteers at our ArtMakers events was a runner-up in the Long Service category.
  • Dr Justine Aw was a runner-up in the Going the Extra Mile category for the great work she has done helping us digitise our collections.
  • Charlotte Pickard, who volunteers in our Youth Panel, was a runner-up for the Special Youth Award.
  • Katy Willis, a volunteer placement in our aquarium, was runner-up in the 'Developing in a role' category.
  • Our staff member Mark Copley was a runner-up in the Managing Volunteers Award.

We're very proud of these and all our volunteers - their enthusiasm, dedication and generosity are all very much appreciated.

Take a look at the video by Aaron and Chris (aka acapmedia). Big thanks also to Ceridwen Smith who narrated the video.
