Spring into action and take a look at all the Easter goodness we have across the holiday period and the rest of April.
Brick Wonders successfully launched in February. The exhibition features 50 wondrous marvels from across the world and our history, from the Great Barrier Reef to iconic landmarks such as Old London Bridge and an Ancient Egyptian pyramid. Visitors can build their own awesome creations in our two interactive play areas, take on the tower-building challenge and add to our graffiti wall.
Award-winning director and photographer James Morgan highlights the lives of the Bajau Laut, the last remaining true marine nomads. For generations, the Bajau people have adapted to aquatic environments. Sea Nomads shows their efforts to conserve their culture, adapting to the changing environment. Discover The Lore of the Land by Serena Korda and the Collective in the Studio Space. The challenging exhibition features 100 objects from our anthropology collection, scented ceramics and a soundscape that reflects the chemical process in plants.
Always Part of the Story depicts hidden and visible aspects of disability. The display from The Access Advisory Group shows that the world can be experienced and understood in many ways. The display is on until June 2020 in World Gallery.
Don’t forget to drop into the Natural History Gallery and say hello to Bengal tiger taxidermy, on loan from the Natural History Museum. We wave goodbye to the tiger in May 2019.
Happening this Easter
Join in with the Easter fun at the Horniman Easter Fair on Saturday 20 April and Sunday 21 April. Go along our Easter Trail, Say hello to Zebedee our 7ft Boa Constrictor and Santi our furry Chinchilla, take part in lindy hop dance classes and much more across the Easter Weekend.
See a special adaption of Aesop’s fable, The Hen That Laid The Golden Eggs on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 April. Follow the story of the man who owned a most wonderful hen, with song and storytelling from Sandal Sticks Theatre.
Take part in Family Art Fun: Easter, every weekday over the Easter break (excluding Good Friday and Easter Monday) in the Education Centre. Make springtime masks, caterpillar puppets or Easter chick nests.
Get close to the objects in the Easter edition of Hands on Base Horniman Explorers. Sessions will take place on Monday 8, Friday 12 and Monday 15 April.
Have a go at Pond Dipping in the Nature trail pond and explore our nature and wildlife on Tuesday 16 April.
Hunt for creepy crawlies and magnificent insects in Minibeast Safari on Thursdays 11 and 18 April, and 30 May.
Join us for Big Wednesday Spring Flavours, a day of activities throughout the museum inspired by the Spring Gardens on Wednesday 10 April. See how Spring is celebrated across the world in Big Wednesday: Spring Festivals. This jam-packed family day takes place Wednesday 17 April.
Learn about the behaviour and activities of bats in Bat Walk for families. This fun family session takes place on Friday 12 April withHorniman nature expert Shayna Soong.

The Gardens open at 7.15am from Monday to Saturday, and from 8am on Sundays. From 2 April to 15 April the Gardens will close at 7.50pm. From 15 April to 29 April the Gardens will close at 8.20pm. As of 30 April, the Gardens will close at 8.50pm.
