Along with a supportive learning environment, we offer the chance to gain new skills and experience or simply to do something you enjoy.

South-West Asian and North African (SWANA) Cultural Belongings Volunteer

Closing date: 30/03/2025
  • Fixed term from mid April for six months, one day a week, (Wednesdays)
  • Anticipated start date: mid April
  • If shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview Wednesday 9th April – please keep this free

The volunteer will be joining the Anthropology department to play a key role in supporting research into the history of acquisition and collecting of the SWANA archaeological and anthropological cultural belongings. This will help us identify and improve Indigenous community access and build transparent and open connections with the diverse communities of descent in their respective countries of origin and in the diaspora, particularly those who are local to the Horniman.

We particularly encourage applicants who identify as SWANA descendants and those from minority ethnic backgrounds. Fluency in any of the SWANA local dialects is an advantage.
