Event Programming Manager (maternity cover)

Closing date: 22/04/2024
  • £42,571 pro rata (£43,440 pro rata after probation)
  • Fixed term contract. Part-time, 28 hours per week, Monday-Thursday, with evening and weekend working as required

We’re looking for a talented Events Programming Manager to lead on the planning and delivery of our public programme, covering a range of large-scale events and regular weekly activities, alongside our commercial events business.

You’ll have significant experience of successful event delivery across a busy site including the handling of enquiries and booking processes, and managing staff.

Trustees x 3 (Legal, Finance and Capital Projects)

The Horniman Museum and Gardens is currently looking to recruit three new Trustees. The Trustees provide vision, direction, control and accountability in fulfilling the Horniman’s public purpose.

We’re looking for candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • Legal Trustee – Significant legal expertise, most likely gained at either a law firm or as an in-house counsel in a commercial, Government or non-profit organisation.
  • Finance Trustee – Significant experience in accountancy and/or finance.
  • Capital Projects Trustee – Significant experience of large scale capital projects and/or the built environment and/or design.

Senior Curator of Anthropology

Closing date: 23/04/2024
  • £42,571 pro rata per annum (rising to £43,440 pro rata p.a. after probation)
  • Job share (17.5 hours per week, occasional evening and weekend work will be required with time off in lieu)

We are looking for a Senior Curator of Anthropology to help deliver the Horniman’s Reset Agenda. You’ll have the skills and experience to help us develop, preserve, research and open up our collections to a wider range of audiences – including source and diaspora communities – and deliver content for our programmes, projects and to audiences.

The Content Team comprises experts in our collections of Anthropology, Musical Instruments, and Natural Sciences, and in social practice, schools learning, community engagement and volunteering. The collaboration and expertise in the team helps share knowledge, deepen understanding and tell stories emanating from our collections to our visitors, in ways that achieve our mission and priorities, and raise the profile of the Horniman nationally and internationally.

Facilities Manager

Closing date: 07/05/2024
  • £38,896 per annum (rising to £39,960 after probation)
  • Full time, 35 Hours a week, Monday to Friday

We are looking for a Facilities Manager who will ensure that the Horniman estate is maintained to an exceptionally high standard for both visitors and workforce.

You’ll have professional and practical experience in the field of buildings, and infrastructure management for a heritage / visitor attraction or other public building, ideally with a relevant professional qualification in estates management, construction, surveying or health and safety.

If you have a proven track record of successfully managing contractors and service contracts, ensuring quality of outcome and value for money, in addition to managing and delivering successful building and infrastructure repair and refurbishment projects then we want to hear from you.

Director of Audiences and Income

Closing date: 07/05/2024
  •  c. £75,000
  • Full time, 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday (with some evening and weekend working as required)

We’re looking for a talented Director of Audiences and Income with experience of leading successful teams that welcome audiences, and generate commercial and/or fundraising revenue in a cultural, heritage or visitor attraction organisation.

You’ll have significant experience of managing staff, enjoy juggling multiple tasks in a busy environment and have a proven ability to work at the senior level this post demands.

The Horniman has a huge variety of activities on offer, and subsequently, our staff are very diverse in their skills and expertise.

You could be working directly with our visitors, curating, documenting or maintaining our collections, publicising what we do, fundraising or working in Finance, Facilities, IT or Human Resources.
