About this event

Join us for a day of performances and storytelling inspired by our new exhibition The Robot Zoo.

The Robot Zoo has inspired Japanese artist and performer Coco Sato to create giant origami animals for the Horniman. Watch Coco create her giant origami live and then visit our Music Gallery performance space to watch her installation of origami animals grow in number throughout the day.

Join our storyteller Olivia Armstrong for a scamper, gallop and bounce through some magical animal tales. How did the animals of folktales and fable become the way they are? Did Fox always have a white tip on his tail? Was Turtle's shell once smooth and shiny?

Also taking place on Wednesday, you can see an interactive puppet show of the Hans Christian Andersen classic The Nightingale by Sandal Sticks Theatre.  The Nightingale tells the story of a Chinese Emperor and his love for both a mechanical bird and a real life nightingale. The Nightingale is a charged for, and booking is needed - find out more about tickets for The Nightingale.
