Join us for a day celebrating the contributions of older people at the Horniman.
Take part in object handling, games and craft activities led by Community Connections, who meet regularly at the Horniman to run projects. Join a taster ‘Music Matters’ session, a musical appreciation group for older people. Finally, relax and enjoy music from Feeling the Noise, a local band of blind and visually impaired musicians.
Silver Sunday is an annual day of fun and free activities for older people across the UK, led by The Sir Simon Milton Foundation.

Music Matters taster session

Music Matters meet every week at the Horniman to listen and learn about musical traditions inspired by our music collections. Workshops are free to attend and you can come to as many or few sessions as you like.
Increase your knowledge and appreciation of music in a warm and inclusive environment. Each week features a different theme and participants are encouraged to participate in discussion and share their thoughts on the music. Join in this taster session to try it out.

Community Connections: Discovery Box Challenge

Join Community Connections in this session to try some object handling and their fantastic puzzle challenge.
Community Connections is an Age UK project focusing on health and wellbeing. They meet regularly at the Horniman to take part in a range of creative and community projects.
Drop in, suitable for 3+.

Location: Education Centre
Relax after lunch by joining Community Connections to play some old fashioned games and doing some simple craft activities linked to the theme of their Discovery Box.

Feel the Noise

Enjoy these performances by local band, Feel the Noise.
Feel the Noise are a group of blind and visually impaired older adults who meet regularly at Seniors Lewisham. They play everything from reggae to ballads, and will be showcasing some of their favourite tunes to close the day.
