betel box

Betel box in Bidri ware with an inner tray with four compartments and a lid. There is an aperture in the box, suggesting there was once a second tray below the main compartment. Box is decorated with a row of poppy motifs along the sides in silver sheet on a zinc ground with details executed in a tarkashi technique. The lid has curved sides and a bud-shaped knop at the top, is decorated in similar fashion with poppy motifs.

These objects are very generic, typical of styles 1880 to 1900.
