stand (food service)

Earthenware stand with circular foot, open below, narrowing towards the top and with a shoulder neck and flared a the top part, which is roughly the same diameter as the foot. Rises at the centre of the round top, with a small aperture at the centre. Decorated on the upper face with a seven pointed incised star, the points projecting outwards from the central aperture. The outer sides also decorated with straight line incisions, in vertical pairs above the shoulder and less regular diagonals below it. Remains of old pre-Horniman label pasted on side.
