medicine sample (ritual substance)

Medicine sample from the Hadza people of Lake Eyasi, Tanzania. The sample is formed of a pangolin scale that has two holes, through which a loop of plant fibre has been threaded, and three bored holes that do not go all the way through.

Pangolin scales are drilled to provide powder for an oral medicine.
