screen; bag (containers)

Shield-shaped firescreen with passementerie edging. The textile has a large central motif of roses, worked entirely with small white, grey, brown, and gold-coloured glass beads. This is framed with a squarish blue border with fleur-de-lys at each corner and a heart motif at the bottom. Pink, white and grey foliage meanders through the blue border. The ground is maroon silk and worked in cross stitch. The passementerie has two bows and two tassels at the top corners, and fine fringing at the bottom. The colours are pale save for one, a deep red. The firescreen is lined with cream moiré silk and padded with board (unseen). It has an accompanying cover made of undyed linen, with red trim and ties.
