figure (ritual & belief: representations)

Painted sacred clay figure representing the yogi and poet Milarepa, or Milaraspa seated. His left leg is folded flat to his left, the right leg raised in a posture similar to that of royal ease, rajalilisana. His right hand is raised to the side of his head. He is seated atop an animal skin, the head hanging over the seat at the front. A simple white robe is draped over him, and his long black hair is uncovered.
