Flute in B flat, dark stained wood body, ivory mounts. Five keys, four German silver and one brass, flat, round, mounted in turned blocks and ring. Metal lined head and tuning slide. Movable cork-faced ivory stopper, left and right hand sections in one piece; socket separate from head. The G sharp key may be a replacement. Head joint badly cracked on both sides of embouchure-hole: incipient crack in socket extending through mount. Some chipping of embouchure-hole. Inscribed on the flute is: BILTON 93 WESTMINSTER BRIDGE ROAD London, followed by the unicorn mark and the letter B.
