mask (dance & live theatre)

Model of a dance mask worn by minor character in the rejog dance drama. The face is carved in wood and painted red with facial details and decoration picked out in black, white, gold and silver. It is perforated with two eye-slits, just below the painted eyes and has a mouth bar on the inside. It is set with a moustache and head-hair of animal fibre. A flap of red material is fixed to the head of the dancer. It is tied round the front of the neck with a yellow cord. Ht 5" Max width 4 1/2".
