shoe (clothing: footwear)

Shoe, hide. 20th century. Made from one piece of hide (very thick) in moccasin style, and bound round the top with blue cotton thread. The instep is covered in with woven orange-coloured cotton. Worn by Kurdish chiefs in Shaklawa, northern part of Arbil divison of Mesopotamia, 1919. Part of complete costume presented.
