Karagiosis

Shadow puppet depicting Karagiosis in disguise as a baker. The face is unshaven, and the left arm much lengthened. The puppet is jointed at the waist and knees, and has a long pastry patter in the left hand. It is manipulated by sticksor rods attached to the body through a hole in the left side, and the left arm. There is an old repair to the head section.

Karagiosis is the main figure in Greek shadow theatre, and assumes a number of disguises, of which this is one.
