ceremonial clothing; headdress (clothing: headwear)

This is a hobbyist or European made headdress in the style of Plains war bonnets. The beaded band is possibly originally Native North American.

War bonnet consisting of a red cotton headband, with a band of hide decorated with beads on it. Long feathers with down and red cotton wound on the quill are sewn on the band, using loops of hide. At the top of the central feathers, red feathers and tufts of mauve coarse hair are stuck on. Red cotton and blue-print ribbons hang from the sides of the band, together with bell shaped objects of horn.
