spindle (twisting tool)

Spindle from the Wai Wai people of Guyana. Consisting of a wooden stick with a bone disc about halfway along it and a wooden hook at one end fastened on with wax. There is a painted and incised design on one face of the bone disc. There is a sample of textile wrapping the objects centre.
