Axe or sword, dao. Long metal blade of basic triangular shape: single edged curved blade, concave end, decorated with two rows of incised short lines on the top/back of the edged/right side. Wooden haft, with a short band of plaited cane around the haft where the blade inserted, a longer band of thin cane strips bound and plaited on behind, and a short band plaited on behind this, all with traces of red dye/resin. One side of haft end, decorated with six rows of four longer tufts of red dyed hair fringe (probably goat’s hair), with a band of plaited cane strips at the end.
