Rectangular stencil for textile dyeing made from brown paper sized/stained with persimmon juice. The cut-out design consists of 6 medallions with scalloped edges. 3 are cut and the sections placed either long side of the 3 whole ones at the centre. The cutting creates the repeat for an overall printed pattern. The 3 larger medaillons contain 1 circular and 2 petalled motifs (one of which is cut into halves). The small one at the centre contains a butterfly motif and is overlapped by one of the larger medaillons. The 2 small cut ones at either side contain 2 bird motifs.
