Camel collar made of twisted hair which is mostly dark brown in colour, with some flecks of brighter colours throughout.
Item number 16 on Jeremy Keenan's item list. Neck collar for riding camels called 'tahawt' in Tamahaq. Keenan acquired this object from the Kel Hirafok people. Price paid: 10 dinar. Keenan refers to fig 74a in Johannes Nicolaisen's 'Ecology and culture of the pastoral Tuareg: with particular reference to the Tuareg of Ahaggar and Ayr' (Nicolaisen, 1963, p 95, fig 74a).
