ancestor tablet (tablet (ritual & belief: cult of the dead))

Wooden ancestor tablet, with carved decoration, including a depicition of an animal in the base, and inscriptions, the central one reading:' 王清誥贈安人wang qiing gao zeng an ren 諡曰慈儉張門陳太安人一位之神主shi yue ci jian zhang men chen tai an ren yi wei zhi shen zhu’ meaning 'the ancestral tablet of motherly and frugal Mrs. Zhang (maiden name Chen tai an). On the left is inscribed the name of her son ‘男大德son da de’ and her four grandsons from right to left ‘孫grandsons戊生Wu sheng, 戊己wu ji, 戊榮wu rong, 戊才wu cai’. There are three letters ‘仝奉祀tong feng si’ at the end of the inscription meaning that the tablet was offered by them.
