saddle carpet (animal furniture)

Rectangular saddle carpet with a carpet centre panel. This is edged with a band of red, fulled wool textile. The lining of grey twill woven textile has 2 ties sewn onto it. The panel consists of a rectangular field surrounded by a patterned border. The panel is decorated with mirror images on a blue-black ground. These consist of a floral motif above abstract motifs (mountains?). The border contains cartouches decorated with a floral sprays and/ or butterflies on a green ground. In the corners are plant motifs on a red ground. The border is surrounded by a pink, white and slightly wider blue-black band.
