kimono; robe

Padded woman's robe of grey silk with a cream resist design and printed (stencilled) design of trees and mountains. It is embroidered with birds and floral motifs in gold couchwork and mainly orange and green silk thread, with turtles in golden waves along the base. It is lined with orange silk. The robe is generally in excellent condition. The curves at the bottom of the sleeves suggest it is for a woman, as does the narrowness. It has short sleeves, and so is for a married woman.
