Spike fiddle. Bowed stringed instrument composed of a coconut shell body mounted on a rod in two sections, one narrow black and heavily carved, the other stout and plain, carrying at the top two pegs of drum shape. The two strings emerging from holes in the rod. A low bridge formed across the wooden table, all of which is blackened. A high arched bow composed partly of a bent bamboo stick and partly of iron wire, held in tension by the hair. Apparently complete and sound, but not in playing order.
