Woman's semiformal domestic robe of blue figured satin with embroidered designs in bright colours in satin stitch of vases of peonies with bowls of Buddha's hand fruits and a bird standing on one leg. There are also melons and other floral motifs. Border along lower hem and side opening is embroidered in shades of blue silk and gold thread couch work with flowers and flower roundels. A strip of woven braid separates this border from the main body. Neck has cloud collar applied, with similar decoration to that of the border. Sleeves have turned back cuffs in lighter blue satin, with strips of braid and embroidery applied. Border decoration continues part way up side of garment, ending with a swirl which protrudes into the body. Lined in pink silk and secured with round metal buttons and loops at right side, two at neck, one under armpit and one half way down side.
