RAKSAKSA BIBASONAN

Shadow puppet for Ramayana performance in the shape of a figure represeting Raksaksa Bibasonan, who is probably Mah Babu Sanam, Rawana's brother, the astrologer who becomes Seri Rama's adviser. He has bared teeth and is holding a weapon in its back hand and an articulated front arm. Attached to a central spliced rod with vegetable fibre. Decorated with polychrome pigment and pierced detailing.
