waistband (belt (clothing: accessories))

Waistband from the Wai- Wai people of Brazil. The band is one thin long chain of circular brown seeds attached to a piece of string. There are two crests or focal points on the band at opposite ends, in a star shape made of a cross-hatching pattern. The star shapes are decorated with blue and red feathers.
