Rug or cicim, flat weave, Eastern Anatolia, early 19th century. Rectangular with long fringes, consists of two pieces sewn together. Wrapped wefts with raised, floating weft motifs in pink, white, orange, blue red and brown. Arranged in vertical columns with a narrow border (indicating its usage) top and bottom, and a wider border along the sides. The border and some columns have an ‘S’ motif inside diamonds; ram’s horns or elibelinde around a central diamond and a stylised Tree of Life, with similarities to an Azerbaijani motif. With three plaited black wool suspension loops, backed with white cotton cloth.
