Japanese helmet, lined with a hessian-type cloth, in russet iron which has been covered in black lacquer, complete with ties. Composed of 32 plates. The six plates of the neck guard (shikoro), which is covered in black lacquer inside and out, are attached with blue silk open lacing. Bracket at centre front for attaching crest (missing). Visor (mabezashi) modelled with two stylised eyebrows and frown above. Inside of peak lacquered in red.
