a Dandy

Rod puppet of a 'Dandy'.

Puppet is of a mature man with a large, globular head with prominent ears, a red mouth with full lips, a moustache and triangular beard made from black fur, large, painted eyes with eyelashes and black eyebrows.

The puppet is dressed in a brown 'fur' pointed hat which has an embroidered headband and a red and grey stripey, synthetic jacket which is trimmed in green, purple and white down the front opening and at the hem and wrists. A snuff gourd with white, metal inserts and a grey, leather stopper is attached to his belt. Underneath the jacket he is wearing a cream shirt. Two long metal rods with wooden handles are attached one to each hand.

Puppet was bought from the Bukhara English Puppet Theatre.
