horse blanket

Roughly rectangular, multicoloured horse blanket consisting of a panel, and a surrounding border. The panel contains sets of wider patterned bands separated by a narrow band decorated with red diamonds and yellow crosses. The wider sets contain 2 bands with green or yellow geometric motifs on a red-purple ground. These are framed by 2 narrow coloured bands and separated by a set of pink and purple bands. The pattern of the narrower bands is repeated in the border. The pattern in each section is worked in complementary warp as stripes. The sections are sewn together to create the banded textile.
