trousers (clothing: outerwear)

Farmer's trousers made from undyed handspun handwoven cotton. Each leg is formed of a wide rectangular piece which is wrapped around the outside of the leg, and two shaped inner pieces, sewn to each other and to the outer part by hand along the seams. The waistband is a wide rectangular piece of fabric sewn into a tube and stitched to the legs. At the back of the waistband a strap in a similar fabric is stitched on, which ties at the front. The brown colour is the original natural colour of the cotton.
