Flute. Boxwood body with nickel silver-plated keys and tuning slide and ivory ferrules and end cap. Eight keys, block mounted, six with pewter plugs. Long F and high C keys have square flat flaps and leather pads. Embouchure hole surround, probably of ivory, is missing. Five joints. Tenon on barrel joint acts as tuning slide. Barrel stamped: POTTER/LONDON/PATENT; Upper joint, lower joint and foot joint stamped: POTTER/LONDON; The emblem of a unicorn's head appears above the inscriptions on the barrel and foot joint.
