mask (dance & live theatre)

Mask for a Duk Duk costume. It is made of loose weave textile stiffened with black paint, on which is painted a face in white and pink. It rises to a point topped with feathers, and has feather running up the back. The bottom is circled by a skirt of large dry leaves.

The conical black helmet is overpainted with concentric white circles, framing two prominent eyes, and rises to a point topped with a plume of white, black, and red feathers trimmed into various shapes. The seam in the conical helmet is disguised with a line of downy feathers that runs down the back.
