To his left the white mother of the lamb gazes back and upwards. To his right and behind are the rest of the flock – black, brown and black sheep. Behind them is a mounted shepherd. To the left, behind the boy, is a yurt with yellow-red walls, a door and two brown tent bands, and a domed roof with two sets of three crossed bands. The blue sky is very cloudy, and the ground is multicoloured. Impressionist in style.
