grave good; doll (pastimes: toys)

One of two grave dolls. The core and arms are made of dried palm leaves. The doll is dressed in fragments of old Peruvian textiles stitched together. One of the textile fragments over the body of the doll is made of small, brown patchwork squares sewn together. The facial features have been stitched on with red and black thread.

In the past such items were buried with the body. This particular item was not used but the textiles are old.
