Ceremonial jacket. The patchwork design of this jacket is a 20th century phenomenon and is closely associated with the emerging tourist economy that developed in the early twentieth century among the Miccosukee (around the First World War). Although the exact origin of this style of patchwork (taweekaache) is still unknown, it is believed to have originated with the Miccosukee-speaking women of South Florida.
