shawl

Shawl with cream cotton warp for main body; selvedges in alternating groups of pink and black. Double weave, so that one face is plain cream, the other patterned. Main body has bands of simple geometric patterning formed of diagonal lines and v shapes, in black. At each end are 3 wide bands of supplementary weft patterning, the middle in blue, those to either side of blue and pink threads giving a mauve effect. The patterns are within a framework of lozenges and triangles, the 2 mauve bands echoing each other. Selvedges are a wider outer stripe of pink flecks in black. Inner stripe has cream flecks also. Warp ends twined loosely to form fringe.
