Multi-coloured strip-woven textile, 'wedding blanket', made by Tanda Hamani in northern Benin. The local name is 'babbagi'.
The textiles we had produced are wedding garments. The person we had make them had not produced anything for 7 years and had to build a loom especially (i.e. the non-durable parts of the loom). We recorded the whole process with a professional film maker.
These objects are only a part of our collections, of which there are more than 350,000 objects. This information comes from our collections database.
