More or less circular conical hat formed of an inner layer of bamboo splits, twill woven, with an additional raised band of more finely twill-woven bamboo splits around the inner edge to hold it in place on the head. Outer layer of narrower splits densely woven, with five cross motifs where the material has been given a dark colour. Reinforced around the downward-turned rim with a strip of bamboo bound at regular intervals with three dark strips. A further band for reinforcement on the inside. Philippines.
