Murali, duct flute of bamboo with nine fingerholes and one thumbhole. The flute is often used for smaller scale celebrations, such as the clothes blessing ritual before a wedding. The flute is often used for smaller scale celebrations, such as the clothes blessing ritual before a wedding. There are monochrome photographs and a sound recording of the murali being played in the British Library. These audio visual materials were created by the collector, Carol Tingey, when she was working in Nepal in the 1980s.
