Polychrome scroll painting of a Door Guardian, in the form of a male figure holding a poleaxe in his left hand, and possibly the hilt of a sword in his right. He is also wearing a bow in a quiver. The painting is fixed by two darkened wooden suspension bars attached with iron alloy nails.
Paragraph on rear reads: 'DOOR GOD supposed to prevent evil spirits from entering houses. They are used only in the Taoist & Buddhist religions - a true Confucian despises them. They are usually put up at the New Year, being fastened on the centre of the front door, and broken by the opening of the door on New Year's morning. They are made of paper, but this one has been mounted on linen in order to preserve it.'
