headdress

Girl's headdress with a flat band of pale blue damask trimmed in black silk, lined with khaki cotton. The front is embellished with a lotus flower design with five recurved petals of pink silk with turquoise flower embroidery. The flower rests on a lotus leaf of green silk and is topped with a bright pink pompom and a bell. To the right of the flower is a half-closed lotus leaf of light green silk attached with a metal spring, while to the left is a lotus seedpod attached with a metal spring. The lotus petals, leaf and seedpod are edged with metal thread couched in orange silk thread. This headdress would have been worn in summertime.
