Conical hat, finely woven from leaf of mengkuang tree, decorative design formed of three strips of patterns in red and black geometric patterns rising from rim to peak. Inside, the body of the hat is of woven cane strips. Decorated, red cane ribs encircle the rim, mount the sides and gather in three small loops at the top. All done in alternating red and black. Attached label from North Borneo Handicrafts shop gives it as 'Papan hat'.
