celt (general & multipurpose)

Flint core or scraper of low pyramidal form, with the base formed by a single flake scar (parting flake). Retouching has turned the core into a side scraper. It is heavily patinated and stained, but the wear is not so heavy. It is made of brown and grey banded flint.

The tool is possibly from the Clactonian Culture, and dates to the Lower Palaeolithic. The level is unknown. It was found at Swanscombe, Kent. Collector's No. nil.
